Rajasthan assembly elections: BJP comes out with first list of 131 candidates

Jaipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of 131 candidates late night on Sunday for upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections which are scheduled on December 7.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will contest from Jhalrapatan, a seat she has represented since 2003.

The party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) held a meeting and discussed the names of the candidates with national president Amit Shah on Sunday following which the list was released.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and all other members of BJP CEC.

Union Minister J P Nadda announced the names addressing a press conference in Delhi.

Senior party leader Nadda said that they have fielded 25 new faces this time with 85 sitting MLA’s. The first list includes 12 women, 17 scheduled Caste and 19 Scheduled Tribe candidates.

There are total 200 seats. The names of 131 candidates have been announced, while the second list will come out soon.
