Jaipur: An army jawan belonging to Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan identified as head constable Sheo Ram was among the four soldiers who were martyred in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pinglan area in Pulwama district on Monday.
The encounter broke out in the wee hours of Monday after army received a tip off that the militants from JeM were hiding in the Pinglan area of Pulwama district. Head constable Seva Ram was the native of Teeba village of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.
Earlier five among 40 CRPF jawans who were martyred in Pulwama were from Rajasthan. As the news of yet another martyrdom reached the state, a pall of gloom descended in Sheo Ram’s native village,
The army killed top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Abdul Rasheed Ghazi and Kamran. They were believed to be the masterminds behind Pulwana terror attack of February 14.
A joint team of Indian’s army 55 Rashtriya rifles along with CRPF and special operation group (SOG) engaged in a gun fight with terrorists.
However, no official announcement from the officials in regard to the martyr’s identity and terrorist identity has been made yet. Officials will reveal the other details after the end of the encounter operation.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “I am infuriated to know about the supreme sacrifice of our jawans in an encounter with terrorists in #Pulwama today. I salute the courage and valour of brave soldiers. My thoughts are with the families of our bravehearts…May god give them strength in this most difficult time”

According to the ANI, 4 Indian Army personnel of 55 Rashtriya Rifles, who lost their lives in encounter with terrorists in Pulwama district, J&K today, have been identified as Major VS Dhoundiyal, Havaldar Sheo Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.
