Rajasthan AGTF nabs Zeeshan Akhtar gang associate from Bandikui in Punjab extortion, firing case

Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Chandraprakash Sharma alias Chandu, an alleged associate of the Zeeshan Akhtar gang, from Bandikui in Dausa district after nearly a month of surveillance. The accused is allegedly wanted in Punjab for extortion and a firing incident at a businessman’s office in Nakodar.
According to Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Dinesh M.N., the gang had allegedly demanded protection money from a businessman in Nakodar city of Punjab. When the businessman did not comply, gang members allegedly opened fire at his office, Bakshi Travels, on January 18, 2026, in an attempt to spread fear.
Punjab Police had earlier arrested three other members of the gang — Deepak, Ankit Kumar and Harijinder Gupta — in connection with the case. According to police, on February 3, gang members allegedly fired at a Punjab Police team during a checkpoint operation, and Ankit Kumar and Harijinder Gupta sustained injuries in the return fire. Chandraprakash, however, escaped and went into hiding.
Police said that after fleeing Punjab, the accused frequently changed locations and was traced to Jaipur, Parasar Dham in Dausa and Lalsot. The AGTF said it had been receiving inputs on his movements and network for nearly a month and was monitoring his hideouts.
Acting on confirmed intelligence, a team led by Inspector Sunil Jangid under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhant Sharma and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Pratap Singh raided a location in Bandikui and apprehended the accused. He has since been handed over to Punjab Police, where questioning is underway.
Initial inquiries indicated that Chandraprakash had no prior criminal record and is believed to have only recently joined the Zeeshan Akhtar gang, police said. Akhtar, a Punjab-based gangster, is reportedly operating his network from abroad and is allegedly involved in extortion and other criminal activities through his associates in India. Members of the AGTF team — Platoon Commander Sohan Singh, Head Constables Mahesh Somra, Hoshiar Singh, Praveen Kumar and Mahaveer Singh, Constable Jitendra Kumar — along with the Dausa District Special Team (DST) were involved in the operation.
