Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested former Dausa superintendent of police (SP) and IPS officer Manish Agarwal, days after his alleged middleman Neeraj Meena was arrested for demanding a bribe amount of Rs 38 lakh. It came up during preliminary investigation that Neeraj Meena was demanding the bribe from the owner of a road construction company on behalf of the IPS officer.
Neeraj Meena was arrested on January 13 along with Dausa sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Pushkar Mittal and Bandikui SDM Pinki Meena from the road construction company owner.
After arrest Meena, the ACB was investigating his links with IPS officer Manish Agarwal. First, the ACB produced Meena on 2-day police remand and then interrogated him. Manish Agarwal’s mobile phone was also seized. The mobile phones of Meena and Manish Agarwal were sent for a forensic examination. Sources said that the call detail records clearly established the link between Agarwal and Meena.
ACB teams also investigated the reports that Meena had visited Jaipur and bought gold with the money that he received as bribe on Agarwal’s behalf.
In this complaint, the road construction company owner stated that senior police and administration officials were demanding bribes from him.
In lieu of clearing files that authorized handing land acquired for the construction of highways from farmers over to the complainant, the police and administration officials of Dausa district were demanding bribes, he alleged. He was also promised that if he paid the bribes, he would be able to carry out work uninterrupted.
