Jaipur: As cyber fraud continues to rise across India, Rajasthan has emerged as one of the country’s strongest performers in cybercrime prevention and recovery. Backed by technology-driven policing and focused operations, Rajasthan Police ranked fifth nationwide in freezing defrauded money in 2025, setting a benchmark for other states.
Under the direction of Director General of Police Rajeev Sharma, the Cyber Crime Wing has undergone a major operational upgrade, the results of which are now clearly reflected in official data.
Targeted Operations and Technology-Led Policing
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (Cyber Crime) Vikas Sharma, the year 2025 was driven by focused statewide cyber operations. Campaigns such as Operation Mule Account & POS, Cyber Shield, Anti-Virus, and Operation Vajra Prahar were launched to dismantle cyber fraud networks operating across Rajasthan.
As part of these initiatives, technical teams blocked approximately 2.5 lakh suspicious mobile numbers and IMEI devices. Hundreds of mule bank accounts were identified and frozen, cutting off financial channels used by cybercriminals to move stolen funds.
What the Data Shows
A comparison of cybercrime data for 2024 and 2025 highlights the impact of these measures:
- Total cyber complaints increased by 27.7%, rising from 1,00,032 in 2024 to 1,27,713 in 2025, indicating higher public awareness and reporting.
- Despite the rise in complaints, registered FIRs fell by 19.7%, reflecting improved early intervention and dispute resolution.
- The total amount involved in cyber fraud dropped from Rs. 795.9 crore in 2024 to Rs. 768.7 crore in 2025, a reduction of 3.4%.
- The most significant gain was in fund protection and recovery. The amount placed under lien or hold increased by 71.3%, jumping from Rs. 104.6 crore in 2024 to Rs. 179.15 crore in 2025.
This performance placed Rajasthan among the top five states in the country for preventing the loss of defrauded funds.
Statewide Cyber Infrastructure Strengthened
All 41 revenue districts in Rajasthan now have fully functional cyber police stations. In addition, every local police station has been equipped with a cyber help desk to ensure victims can report incidents without delay.
The 1930 cyber helpline is staffed round-the-clock by trained personnel who work to immediately halt suspicious banking transactions, often within minutes of a complaint being received.
Awareness, WhatsApp Support, and Public Outreach
To counter evolving fraud techniques such as fake SIM sales, banking collusion, digital arrest scams, and misuse of e-Mitra services, Rajasthan Police has launched sustained public awareness campaigns.
For added public convenience, two dedicated WhatsApp helpline numbers — 9256001930 and 9257510100 — have been introduced. Regular advisories through print and electronic media have helped improve public vigilance and early reporting.
What Citizens Should Do
Police officials have reiterated that speed is critical in cybercrime cases. Anyone who becomes a victim of online fraud should immediately call 1930 or file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in to maximise the chances of blocking or recovering the money.
