Raj police launches Senior Citizen Security app: All you need to know

Jaipur: To mark the International Day of Older Person, Rajasthan Police on Tuesday launched a mobile app which will enable senior citizens to contact the cops in emergency situations with just a few taps on their smartphone.

The Senior Citizen Security App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and can be used by a senior citizen not only in emergency situation, but also in cases of any legal or health problems. The elderly people welcomed the police’s move and said that the move shows the humanitarian side of the police force.

A growing population of elderly people living alone in the state – particularly Jaipur – has become a cause for concern for the police and administration as these people are often vulnerable to crimes. The cases of crime against elderly people are on the rise.

In such a scenario, the app was the need of the hour. DGP Bhupendra Singh inaugurated the app on the occasion of International Day of Older Person.

Through this app, the elderly will be able to seek help from the police in an emergency. The app will enable them to seek help if they are going through any legal, pension or health-related problem. DGP Bhupendra Singh said that the elders will can download the app and register themselves.

The BETA version of the app has been launched. The app will be reviewed from time to time and the bugs will be fixed, he said.

The Senior Citizen Security app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. There will be a panic button in the app. The elderly can contact the police directly in an emergency by pressing that button.
