Jaipur: An FIR has been registered against some students of NIMS University in Chandwaji area for beating up the junior students when the latter didn’t follow absurd instructions as part of an ragging exercise. Two junior students were injured in the ragging attempt, according to the FIR lodged on Friday.

SHO Chandwaji Vikrant Sharma said that the complaint was registered by Bhanu Ambawat, an MBBS student belonging to Badshahpur in Gurugram of Haryana.

The complainant told the police that he stays in the Shivaji Hostel, while his friend Sonu Choudhary stays in Ambedkar Hostel. On May 15, Bhanu had visited Sonu at the latter’s hostel room and when he was returning from here, he was intercepted by his senior Kanishka Solanki. He asked Bhanu to bow before him and then started beating him up. Kanishka’s friends Ganpat Yadav, Vijay Meena and Manoj Gurjar also came there.

“Bhanu says that they demanded money for buying liquor and when he refused, they attacked him with sticks. When Bhanu’s friend Sonu tried to intervene, they beat him also. Both were injured,” said the officer.

The police have registered an FIR and said that further investigation is on.
