Protest rally against Anandapal encounter: 2500 policemen deputed as tension simmers

Jaipur: Nearly 25,00 policemen have been deployed in Sanwrad village where a protest rally is being organized on Wednesday against the police encounter of Anandpal Singh.

Heavy security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order situation. In some district, internet services have been banned till midnight to stop the spread of rumors on social media. The administration is using drones to keep a tab on the situation.

Anandpal’s body is yet to be cremated even 18 days after the police encounter. A high-level security meeting was called by home minister Gulab Chand Kataria. DGP Manoj Bhatt and other senior police and administration officers were present during the meeting on Tuesday. Security arrangements were discussed in the meeting.

A newspaper reported that 41 police officers from Rajput community have been deputed in Sanwrad village including 6 additional SPs, 14 DCPs and 21 inspectors, SIs and ASIs.

Ministers have been given charge of seven districts. They will camp in these districts and try to communicate with the public in case the law and order situation goes awry.

Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in Nagaur district and many nearby areas, prohibiting gathering of five or more people.

The family members of Anandpal and Rajput community organizations are demanding a CBI probe into the encounter alleging that it was fake.

Internet services were banned in Nagaur, Churu, Sikar and Bikaner districts as a lot of people were spreading rumors on social media and posting fake information and visuals.

The state government has filed a caveat in the Rajasthan high court, requesting it to hear the state government’s arguments on a plea demanding CBI probe into the police encounter.
