JAIPUR: A gripping new book by renowned academic and activist Professor Pankaj Choudhary, called “A Story of India’s Missing Women,” has put a spotlight on an ongoing issue in the country – female foeticide.

In a recent interview with The PinkCity Post, Choudhary said that this harmful practice is still very much present despite the country’s growing focus on gender equality and women’s rights.

The book dives deep into the laws designed to stop female foeticide and looks at how society helps to keep it going.

Professor Choudhary is known for his work in the field of law and has been active in promoting women’s rights. His research interests as a faculty member at Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre have revolved around themes of gender equity and the intersection of law and society.

Professor Choudhary also runs non-profit Let’s Do It India, which works to address different social concerns through grassroots initiatives. All this experience and knowledge make the book’s analysis even more powerful.

Professor Choudhary said, “This book looks at the legal changes over the last ten years, and what’s happening now.” He’s encouraging people to think critically about how effective our laws have been in dealing with female foeticide.

In the book, Professor Choudhary points out that while medical technology is getting better and better, the laws trying to stop their misuse aren’t keeping up. According to the book, this difference has played a significant part in India’s woeful implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

He suggests a fresh look at the proposed changes to this Act, considering different fields of study before they are put into action.

“The book isn’t just about highlighting the issue,” Professor Choudhary explained. “It’s about understanding why it keeps happening in our society and what we can do about it.”

“A Story of India’s Missing Women,” which was also featured at Princeton University, USA, is a must-read for anyone who wants to really understand this issue and work towards solving it. That includes politicians, legal professionals, scholars, and activists.

“My research not only provides light on the sociological underpinnings of this ubiquitous occurrence, but it also promotes a better understanding of the legal-social framework within which it occurs,” he said.

Professor Choudhary’s in-depth research offers a clear plan for dealing with female foeticide in India, showing how we can create a society that respects everyone’s rights, no matter their gender.

“A Story of India’s Missing Women” is now available on Amazon. It’s a great read for anyone wanting to get a better understanding of the issue and how we can solve it.
