Private university employee arrested in Rajasthan RPSC Hindi professor fake-degree case; 10 accused held so far

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested an employee of Mewar University, Gangrar, in connection with a fake-degree scam linked to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s Professor (Hindi, School Education) recruitment exam of 2022. The arrest takes to 10 the total number of people held in the case so far.
The accused has been identified as Dhwaj Kirti Sharma, 55, a resident of Bhilwara, who has been taken on police remand. According to the SOG, he has previously been involved in cases concerning the preparation of fake degrees.
Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal said a woman applicant, Kamla Kumari, had allegedly submitted an MA (Hindi) degree purportedly issued by Mewar University, Gangrar, at the time of applying for the post. When the commission sent the document for verification, the degree was found to be fake — the university had not issued any such degree to her.
An FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Ajmer on 20 March 2023, after which the SOG began its investigation. Officers found that a few employees linked to the university, along with other accused, had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy to prepare forged marksheets, degrees, migration certificates and character certificates. The documents allegedly carried fake university seals and signatures that police say were those of Dhwaj Kirti Sharma.
Kamla Kumari is among the 10 accused arrested in the case so far, the SOG said.
