Jaipur: Poornima University brought glamour and creativity to the runway with its ninth annual fashion show, ‘Poornima Trends 2025,’ where student designers showcased their innovative collections inspired by a wide range of themes. The event drew a crowd of notable figures from the fashion industry, including designer Samant Chauhan, JIFF founder Hanu Rose, and Pencil Box director Anurag Singhal, who attended as guests of honor.

The evening opened with a tribute to legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld. The collection honored his legacy through a blend of monochrome palettes, sculpted silhouettes, and Baroque-inspired grandeur. This set the tone for an event that celebrated fashion as both art and expression.

Across 23 sequences, the show explored concepts both whimsical and profound. ‘Anime Fantasies’ burst onto the runway with bold superheroes, fearless girls, and magical landscapes. “This collection is not just fashion,” said one student designer. “It’s memory, emotion and wonder stitched into each of its garments.”

‘Ashamed Flower’ tackled deeper social themes, focusing on the silent struggles of shy youth. “Shame arises from the cruelty of the unheard,” read the collection’s message, conveyed through garments that spoke of stories society often overlooks.

The dramatic ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ sequence translated vices like pride, envy, and greed into shimmering textures and sharp cuts, capturing both the allure and destruction they bring. ‘Romanticism Reborn’ encouraged dreaming beyond limits, reminding the audience that true beauty is not about perfection but poetry.

The show also addressed pressing issues like environmental awareness and personal trauma. In ‘The Gogh Way,’ bold brushstrokes and color palettes paid tribute to Vincent van Gogh’s emotional depth. ‘Garden of Heaven’ glowed with embroidery of vines and flowers, evoking light filtering through leaves. Toward the end, ‘Accidental Wreckage’ portrayed the aftermath of sudden tragedies. “An accident is an irreversible second,” the designer explained, using fabric to mimic twisted metal and fleeting moments that change everything.

Before the runway event, the audience was treated to a folk fusion performance by the Rajasthani band ‘Retila Rajasthan,’ setting a vibrant tone. As the evening concluded, judges recognized exceptional student work with awards for Most Creative Collection, Best Social Awareness Concept, and Best Ready to Wear Collection.

With themes ranging from fantasy to realism, Poornima Trends 2025 demonstrated the range and talent of a new generation of fashion designers, using the runway as a canvas for stories, struggles and imagination.
