Poornima University welcomes new students with ‘Udgam 2025’ orientation

Jaipur: Poornima University in Jaipur opened its doors to more than 4,500 new students this week with a four-day orientation program, “Udgam 2025,” featuring a lineup of prominent figures from politics, journalism, the military, and industry.
The event began with an inauguration ceremony led by Lt. Gen. Harbinder Singh Vandra, SM, Chief of Staff of the South Western Command of the Indian Army. Over the following days, students interacted with leaders who shared personal experiences, practical advice, and candid reflections on their careers.
Among them was Ravindra Singh Bhati, the young MLA from Jaisalmer and a former student union president at Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur. Speaking about his entry into politics without any family background in the field, Bhati acknowledged the difficulties he faced but urged students not to be discouraged by challenges. “Time changes for everyone,” he said. “Don’t be afraid of problems—face them bravely. If you want to take the country forward, you must go into politics.” He also spoke about the value of true friendship, telling students that good friends are the ones who strengthen you and stay with you through all phases of life.
Journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, editor of Lallantop, offered a different kind of message, focusing on self-care and critical thinking. He told students that “your studies and good health will still be with you after 20 years,” and emphasized the importance of physical and mental fitness. “The art of listening can bring miraculous changes to your personality,” he said, encouraging students to cultivate the habits of listening carefully and reading good literature. On the subject of fake news, Dwivedi urged caution: “Don’t trust the internet blindly. Don’t rush to conclusions. Believe the news only after cross-checking it.”
The program also brought in senior administrators and military veterans. IAS officer Naveen Jain, Secretary of Finance (Expenditure) for the Rajasthan government, and Major General Anuj Mathur shared insights from their respective careers. On the final day, stand-up comedian Ravi Gupta lightened the atmosphere, entertaining students with his humor.

Corporate trainer Minocher Patel, NLP trainer Ravi Bodani, and several senior human resources leaders—including Ramakrishna Vyamajala of Homefirst Finance, George Cardoz of Forbes Marshall, and Divya Gupta of Birla Opus—discussed workplace skills and industry expectations. Cultural Tambola host Sandeep Panchwatkar and Col. Lalit Chamola, Director of Chamola’s Doon Academy, also engaged with the students.
For the incoming class, “Udgam 2025” was more than an introduction to college life—it was an immersion into perspectives from politics, the press, the armed forces, and industry. Over four days, the orientation blended inspiration, practical wisdom, and entertainment, offering Poornima University’s newest students a multidimensional start to their academic journey.
