Poornima University in Jaipur hosts international art camp ‘Sarjana 2023’

Twenty-two international artists are guiding students from 15 Indian universities in creating paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts.

JAIPUR: Poornima University (PU) has kicked off a six-day International Art Camp ‘Sarjana 2023’. The camp is being organized by the University’s Faculty of Design and Arts in collaboration with the Jaipur Art Summit.

Twenty-two international artists are guiding students from 15 Indian universities in creating paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts. Among these artists are prominent figures like Jong Il Ma (USA), Qing Sonnenberg (Deutsch), and India’s KK Gandhi.

Laxman Vyas, Chairman of the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy, inaugurated the event. V.K. Sharma, Director of MSME, and Shailendra Bhatt, Director of Jaipur Art Summit, also attended as honored guests. Vyas praised the event’s contribution to the art community, while Sharma highlighted its commercial importance.

Participants hail from reputed institutions including JJ School of Art, Mumbai; College of Art, Delhi; and Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. Their creations, alongside those of the visiting artists, will be showcased at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) on 26 and 27 August. An art workshop is also set for 25 August, led by Padma Shri Shyam Sunder Sharma.

Rahul Singhi, Co-Founder of Poornima University, and other university officials were present at the opening ceremony.
