Police yet to identify ‘teacher’ in AIIMS Jodhpur student Rashmi Yadav suicide case

Jaipur: Even three days after 21-year-old Rashmi Yadav, committed suicide at her hostel room of AIIMS Jodhpur, the police are yet to identify the teacher who the victim alleged of humiliating her in a suicide note.

The victim’s cell phone is locked and the police are yet to get access to the call details. Forensic experts have also been roped in to assist the police with the investigation. AIIMS director Dr Sanjeev Mishra is learnt to have taken a meeting of senior medical college ad hostel administration officials. Footages of CCTVs are being studied to ascertain the movement of the girl since she came to AIIMS Jodhpur on July 31. Sources said that the college administration has not found any evidence suggesting someone misbehaved or humiliated with Rashmi.

The college administration said that they are extending their full cooperation to the police in their investigation into the suicide case.

Rashmi Yadav, a resident of Mundawar area in Alwar district, had ended her life barely three days after she got admission to the first year MBBS course in AIIMS Jodhpur. In the suicide note she wrote, “Please forgive me maa and papa. I didn’t want to hurt you, but I can’t live without self-respect. Sir (addressing to an unknown teacher), I am sorry. You scolded me very harshly. I couldn’t even say sorry. I am really very very sorry. Please don’t this to anyone else. You may have a great attitude, but your behavior with me was not right today. Sir, my school was great and I have good manners. Mummy (addressing to her mom), some people are not good”. The victim’s father – Ramniwas Yadav, a principal by profession – lodged an FIR against an unidentified teacher.
