Police firing in Anandpal village: 1 killed, 28 injured in clashes
Protestors attempt to torch train, damage railway tracks. Police open fire.

Jaipur: The law and order situation in Sanwrad village of Churu district where a protest rally against the police encounter of Anandpal Singh was being held went for a toss on Wednesday. One man was killed and 28 others were injured in police firing, lathicharge, stone pelting and subsequent stampede.
Those injured include SP Paras Deshmukh and 20 other policemen. One sub inspector was admitted in trauma ward of SMS Hospital in Jaipur in serious condition.
Curfew was imposed in Sanvrad following the violence.
The protestors went on a rampage and tried to torch a train and damaged railway tracks when the police opened fire. One Lalchand Sharma was died reportedly of bullet injuries in the firing. The police however didn’t confirm it till the reports last came in. There were reports that the unruly crowd also fired at the police.
Thousands of people had gathered at Sanwrad village on Wednesday to participate in a protest rally called by the family members of Anandpal Singh and Rajput community leaders.
Heavy police force was deployed in the village. After the meeting, a group of protestors hurled stones on the police. The police resorted to lathicharge and then used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Another group went to the railway tracks near the local railway station and allegedly tried to torch a train. They uprooted railway tracks, forcing the police to open fire.
27 people were injured.
Senior Rajput leaders disappeared after the clash between protestors and the police. There are orders to take them into custody the moment they are spotted.
There were reports that protestors snatched away guns and bullets from the policemen.
People had come to take part in the meeting from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also.
Nearly 5000 vehicles were used to transport people to the meeting spot.
The police set up several check posts to search these vehicles for weapons and any other illegal objects.
IPS officer deputed as SP Ajmer Paras Deshmukh was injured in the clashes.
ADG Ajit Singh and IG Malini Agarwal camped in Sanwrad to keep an eye on the law and order situation.
The family members are demanding a CBI probe into the incident. They alleged that Anandpal was murdered.
Internet services in Churu, Bikaner, Sikar and Nagaur districts have been further suspended to stop the spread of rumors on social media.
Anandpal Singh was killed in a police encounter in Malasar village of Churu district on June 24.
The family members first didn’t take the body from the mortuary of a government hospital. After a court asked the police to have the postmortem examination conduced again at an A-grade hospital, the family members accepted the body, but it has not been cremated. It is being kept in a freezer. The body was on display when the meeting was being held in Sanward on Wednesday.
Sources said two people who sustained bullet injuries were rushed to SMS Hospital.
A sub inspector Rajendra Singh was also rushed to SMS Hospital.
