JAIPUR: The police are still searching for a domestic helper suspected of robbing a former chief secretary’s household in Jaipur.
The son, daughter-in-law, and grandson of Vipin Bihari Lal Mathur, ex-chief secretary of Rajasthan, were victims of robbery by their domestic servant two days ago.
The servant, identified as Pooran Bahadur from Nepal, allegedly drugged the family with an intoxicating substance and stole gold and silver jewelry, as well as cash.
Authorities have sent teams to the Nepal border and other locations to conduct raids on potential hideouts. They are also questioning Pooran’s relatives in Jaipur.
Initial investigations revealed that Pooran began working at the family’s farmhouse about one and a half months ago. Gaurav Mathur, the victim, filed a report at the Kho Nagoriyan police station after being discharged from the hospital on Friday.
The crime occurred on Wednesday night when Pooran allegedly laced the family’s food with a sedative. After the family members, Sanjeev Lal Mathur, Kanchan Mathur, and Gaurav Mathur, became unconscious, he allegedly robbed them.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning when a maid arrived and discovered the situation. The police from Nagoriyan station responded, and the victims were hospitalized for treatment.
