Jaipur: Vaibhav Gehlot, son of chief minister Ashok Gehlot is all set to fight for the post of RCA president. He was elected unopposed as the treasurer of Rajsamand District Cricket Association on Tuesday. Vaibhav Gehlot was defeated in Lok Sabha elections, but the pitch is ready for him to take command of the cricket politics of Rajasthan. Sources said that he is slated for a position in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the near future.

Speculations have been doing rounds that the new RCA president will be from Rajsamand and Vaibhav Gehlot may get the opportunity to be elected for the top post. RCA president post has gained significance as the BCCI has lifted the ban on the state cricket body. The ban lasted for five years. Senior Congress leader and Rajasthan Assembly speaker CP Joshi is currently the RCA president. He recently told media persons that the BCCI had been lifted and the RCA was supposed to hold elections by September 28,

“The post of treasurer in Rajsamand District Cricket Association was lying vacant since the death of Pradeep Paliwal. Vaibhav Gehlot was elected unopposed for the post,” said a senior RCA official.

The ban on the RCA was imposed by the BCCI in 2014. The RCA has been trying to get the ban lifted for the past five years. When CP Joshi was elected the president of RCA, he said that his first priority would be to get the ban lifted.
