Pisangan police station staff including SHO suspended after inmate commits suicide in lock-up

Jaipur: Six policemen including SHO Laxman Singh were suspended while the other staff members were removed from duty and sent to police lines after an inmate allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his barrack on Monday.

A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident. The victim was identified as Mangilal who was behind bars for some crime.

According to preliminary reports, Mangilal used a mat as a rope and hanged himself in the bathroom of his barrack. As soon as the matter came to the knowledge of the senior police officers, they took action against the police station staff.

Those suspended include Laxman Singh, SI Amarchand, head constable Surendra Singh, Kishan Lal, constable Vijendra Yadav and Rekha.

Head constable Hemant, constable Ramkishan, Prakash Jakhar, Sher Singh, Raju Devasi and Ramkayna were among those sent to reserve police lines.

The Rajasthan police department is already facing embarrassment in the case of gang rape with a young married woman in front of her husband in Alwar’s Thanagazi area. Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena has announced that he and his supporters would march towards Jaipur in huge numbers demanding a CBI probe and an FIR against policemen who didn’t take timely action in the matter.
