Jaipur: The body of a 3-year-old girl was donated at Jodhpur AIIMS on Thursday. The girl Jyoti is probably the youngest person in India whose body was donated for research purposes. Jyoti’s partents said that the child was suffering from a critical heart-related disease.

“We took her to many cardiologists in the country, but there was no improvement in her health. She was admitted to a hospital in Ahmadabad on June 28. When her condition deteriorated, we brought her to Jodhpur AIIMS. She suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away on Thursday morning,” Umaid Singh, distraught father of Jyoti told media persons. Umaid Singh works as an assistant manager at Rajasthan Roadways Jodhpur depot.

The family originally hails from Gotan in Jodhpur.

“We always wanted to keep her alive in our memories. I talked to my wife and we decided that we should donate the body. She will serve the medical fraternity after her death,” said the father.

The doctors at AIIM Jodhpur said that Jyoti is the youngest person in the country whose body has been donated.

“The research will help us understand the difference in the anatomy of adults and children,” said a doctor.
