Over 7000 people from Rajasthan to go on Haj Yatra this year
Jaipur: Over 7000 people from Rajasthan will go on Haj Yatra (pilgrimage) this year.
It is for the first time in the state when applications of nearly 6500 people have already been cleared by the Haj committee. Last year, the number of people who went to Haj was 5650, said officials.
Recently, the Central Haj Committee cleared waiting of 1,336 people from Rajasthan.
An official of Rajasthan Haj Welfare society Hazi Zaved Kagzi said that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman announced to increase 25,000 seats for Haj on his visit to India recently.
The Rajasthan State Haj Committee has received 10,777 applications until now. Around 6600 people have already been selected by the committee. The number will likely 7000, said officials of the committee.
The first flight for Haj pilgrimage from Rajasthan will take off between July 10 and July 15 in 2019.
The Central Haj Committee of India started the process of registration for ‘Haj Pilgrimage Yatra 2019’ last year in October.
The first flight from India will likely departure on July 1 and the Haj pilgrims will return on August 14 in 2019. The dates of all the activities and processes for Haj Tour have been released.
Number of Haj pilgrims from Rajasthan in past years:
• 2015: 3749 people (16519 applications received)
• 2016: 3716 people (16593 applications received)
• 2017:4776 people (17817 applications received)
• 2018: 5650 people (14464 applications received)
The Haj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca of Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey.
The Rajasthan government launched an app to make Haj pilgrimage easier and more convenient.
