JAIPUR: In a bid to reduce road accidents, the police took to the streets on Saturday in the state. Their campaign resulted in the issuance of fines to 52,000 individuals in a single day, amounting to a total of Rs 5 crore 20 lakh collected.

The focus of the operation was on apprehending two-wheeler riders without helmets. While some individuals tried to negotiate smaller fines, others attempted to use their influence to avoid penalties. However, the police remained steadfast and did not show any leniency.

The Additional Director General of Police Traffic, VK Singh, personally visited various locations in the city, including Rambagh and JDA Circle, to assess the situation.

Singh commended the efforts of the traffic police officers who worked diligently under the scorching heat. He explained that the campaign not only involved issuing fines to helmetless two-wheeler riders but also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of helmet usage.

Singh advised all two-wheeler riders to wear high-quality helmets.

However, it was observed that some individuals resorted to wearing damaged helmets in an attempt to evade the attention of the police. In response, they were encouraged to invest in a good helmet for their safety.
