Jaipur: Rajasthan is at the forefront of Covid-19 vaccination in the country. As many as 1.08 crore vaccine doses were administered in the state in the past 30 days. About 56% of the eligible population has received at least one vaccine dose. The state ranks at number 5 in terms of the highest vaccination rate in the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

A senior medical and health department official said that the people in rural areas are finally coming forward and getting vaccinated. This has helped speed up the vaccination rate. In fact, 68% of the doses were administered in rural areas in the past 30 days.

“About 2.97 crore people in Rajasthan have received at least one dose. The drive has covered 56.9% of the population. 92.64 lakh people have been fully vaccinated,” said the officer adding that the vaccination could protect people from the third wave of Covid-19.

The state has not reported any deaths due to Covid-19 since July 31. The recovery rate is also almost 99.04%. Only one Covid-19 case was reported in Jaipur on Friday. The state has now the second-lowest number of active Covid-19 cases followed by Madhya Pradesh.
