Old PHQ building to house Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporation headquarters

Jaipur: The building which once housed police headquarters in the Walled City will be turned into the headquarters for the newly formed Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporation. The existing JMC headquarters in Lalkothi will house the Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation headquarters. The Rajasthan government on Wednesday divided the wards of the existing JMC between the two nearly formed municipal corporations. The self-governance department issued a notification in this regard.

“The building which housed PHQ is lying vacant. It will now house the Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporation,” said a senior official.

There will be a total of 100 wards in Heritage JMC. Of them 11 wards reserved for SC category, four will be reserved for women candidates in the upcoming local bodies election. Three wards will be reserved for ST candidates. Of them, one will be reserved for a woman candidate. There will be a total of 17 wards reserved for OBC category. Of them, six will be reserved for women candidates. For the remaining 49 wards, 21 will be reserved for women candidates.

There will be a total of 150 wards under the Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation. Twenty wards will be reserved for SC. Of them, 7 for women. OF the 7 wards reserved for ST, two will be for women candidates. O the 32 OBC wards, 11 will be for women candidates. And of the remaining 91 wards, 30 will be reserved for women.
