JAIPUR: A campaign has been launched to add new voters to the voter list in various cities, including Jaipur. The campaign will run until January 22 and allows for online and offline applications.
The Election Commission initiated this special campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Election Commission’s schedule states that individuals who will turn 18 by October 1, 2024 can have their names added to the voter list. However, only those who turn 18 by February 1 will be eligible to vote.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta announced that applications received by January 22 will be processed. Claims and objections will be resolved by February 2, with the final publication of voter lists scheduled for February 8.
Objections regarding additions or deletions on the draft list of voters can now be submitted until January 22. Concerns raised about name changes or removals will be addressed.
During previous assembly elections, many voters discovered their names were deleted from the list, preventing them from voting. To prevent a recurrence, all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been instructed to take this task seriously.
