NSUI leaders Ranveer Singh Singhania and Abhimanyu Poonia attacked, admitted to hospital

The two were on their way to Aravali Hostel from the university campus after campaigning. Ranveer Singh sustained serious head injuries and admitted to SMS hospital. The incident happened despite the police’s claim of heavy security on the campus.

Ranveer Singh being rushed to SMS Hospital after the attack

Jaipur: NSUI Candidate for the president post Ranveer Singh Singhania and state NSUI president Abhimanyu Poonia were admitted to ICU of SMS Hospital after they were injured in an attack by unknown assailants at 12:30 am on Thursday.

The two were on their way to Aravali Hostel from the university campus after campaigning. Ranveer Singh sustained serious head injuries and admitted to SMS hospital. The incident happened despite the police’s claim of heavy security on the campus.

NSUI supporters alleged Ranveer Singh was receiving threats since morning on Wednesday. The have launched an investigation based on these allegations.

NSUI leaders who were injured

Police officials including DCP Gaurav Yadav reached the hospital. More police force was deployed in and around the university.

According to DCP Gaurav Yadav, NSUI Candidate for presidents’ post, Ranveer Singh Singhania and State NSUI president Abhimanyu Poonia were on their way to Aravali Hostel from the university campus, when more than a dozen assailants attacked them.

The attackers were waiting for them by hiding behind one of the idols near the road. Ranveer Singh suffered serious injuries on his head and was taken to SMS Hospital. As the news of the attack spread, hundreds of NSUI supporters reached the hospital.

Ranveer Singh was getting threat calls since morning. He was threatened on the phone to withdraw him name from the elections. Both of them are in an unconscious state right now. Whoever has done this will soon be taken into police custody.

The police are trying to identify the attackers. They were waiting for Singhania to gain consciousness.

Further investigation on the basis of the threat calls and other details received in the matter is going on. Police reached the university campus in the search of attackers. No arrest has been made in this case till the reports last came in.
