JAIPUR: The Government departments in Rajasthan have recently received the green light to award contracts valued up to Rs 25 lakh to local startups without the need for a tender process.

This represents a substantial increase from the previous limit of Rs 15 lakh, which has been adjusted to promote further growth within the startup ecosystem.

To enable this change, an amendment to the Rajasthan Transparency in Public Procurement (RTPP) Rules, 2013 has been approved. This decision aligns with the broader goals outlined in the Rajasthan Startup Policy, which aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

In addition to raising the no-tender procurement limit, the policy has also expanded the number of work orders that can be granted to startups in a single year. Previously capped at three, the updated policy now permits up to six work orders annually. Moreover, the policy provides extra support to startups led by women, specially-abled individuals, transgender individuals, and those belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). These businesses will be eligible to receive one additional work order per year.

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan had announced the intention to increase the procurement limit without tender for startups to INR 25 lakh during a recent budget announcement, reflecting the government’s commitment to nurturing the state’s growing startup sector.

In Rajasthan, a minimum social security pension of Rs 1,000 per month is now guaranteed, following the approval of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Previously, eligible recipients received monthly pensions of either Rs 500 or INR 750. The decision to increase the pension to Rs 1,000 was announced during the state budget and is aimed at enhancing the financial security of the region’s most vulnerable citizens.

The enhanced pension will come into effect in May, with the first payment scheduled for June 1.

“This move signifies the Rajasthan government’s commitment to supporting its population, particularly those facing economic hardships, by providing a more substantial safety net. The increased pension will help improve the overall quality of life for those who rely on this essential social security benefit,” said a government official.
