Nitant suicide: St Xavier’s School suspends PTI, forms probe committee

Jaipur: Two days after the case of suicide by a student – Nitant Raj Lata–  over the alleged harassment by the school PTI came to light, the St Xavier’s School (Nevta) administration formed a six-member committee to probe the allegations. The school also suspended PTI Geo George who was named in the suicide note.

The police have also launched an investigation. It served a notice to the school, asking it to provide all the academic records related to the student and ensure that the teachers are available for questioning.

School principal Father John Ravi told media persons that as per the school norms, the PTI was suspended after the case was registered against him.

“We will take further action after receiving the committee report,” said the principal.

The first meeting of the committee will take place on Friday. The committee former under the supervision of the school’s academic vice principal consists of two teachers and three parents.

Nitant, a resident of Krishna Vihar colony in Sodala, hanged himself in his room on the intervening night of April 25 and April 26.

He left a suicide note in which he stated, “Needed Justice” and named the PTI, Geo George.

The family members registered an FIR with Sodala police station against the PTI who they accused was humiliating Nitin in front of his classmates and other children in the school. Nitin was depressed over this. His parents had been summoned to the school on April 26. His body was found hanging by his mother around 4 am on April 26.

Nitin’s father Rajkumar Lata is a manager at Axis Bank in Jaipur. The family had come to Jaipur from Kota and settled here nearly three years ago. The family members said that Nitant was very good at studies and sports.
