Nagaur Fair 2019: Second biggest cattle fair of India from Feb 10 to Feb 13

Thousands of bullocks, camels, sheep, and horses will be traded in the fair. Several fun activities and competitions for tourists will also be held during this three-day long cattle fair in Nagaur.

Jaipur: The second biggest cattle fair of India, ‘The Nagaur Fair’ is all set to commence in Nagaur town of Rajasthan from February 10 and will continue till February 13. Thousands of bullocks, camels, sheep, and horses will be traded in the fair.

Several fun activities and competitions for tourists will also be held during this three-day long cattle fair in Nagaur.

The owners of the animals will dress up in the traditional style with big moustaches and colourful turbans during the fair. They also decorate their animals for trade is a unique way that leaves visitors in amazement.

Several competitions will be held between traders and visitors such as horse race, camel race and animal decoration in the fair.

Also, the largest spices market (Mirchi Bazaar) is one of the major attractions of the fair where several varieties of species especially red chilies will be traded.

Wooden items, iron-crafts, and camel leather accessories with Rajasthani handicrafts will also be up for sale.

A lot of tourists witness the festival with utter excitement. The tourism industry of the city benefits from the fair. A large number of visitors from overseas and other states of the country come to Nagaur to attend this annual cattle fair.

Activities and competitions including jugglery, folk dance, fire dance, camel race, turban tying contest, biggest mustache contest, desert safari, camel dance, and gymnastic stunts are going to be the key attractions. Artists such as jugglers, puppeteers, storytellers, and folk dancers participate every year in the Nagaur Fair.

The Cattle fair of Nagaur is celebrated over a span of 3-4 days by the Department of Animal Husbandry in association with the department of tourism.

Tourists particularly enjoy cultural evenings due to mesmerizing folk performances.
