Nadoti SDM Kajal Meena, reader caught by ACB accepting Rs 60,000 bribe for land decree in Karauli

Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday caught Nadoti Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kajal Meena and her reader Dinesh Kumar Saini red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 at the SDM office in Karauli district. A separate sum of Rs 4 lakh in suspicious cash was also seized from a bag carried by a third accused, senior assistant Praveen Dhakad.
ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta said the bureau’s Sawai Madhopur unit received a complaint that SDM Kajal Meena had been demanding money through her reader Dinesh Saini in exchange for issuing a final decree related to the complainant’s land partition case. The initial demand was allegedly Rs 1 lakh, which was later negotiated down to Rs 50,000, according to the complaint.
During confidential verification on Thursday, the reader allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 for SDM Kajal Meena and Rs 10,000 for himself, bringing the total to Rs 60,000. The complainant was called to the SDM office at Nadoti, where Saini collected the bribe amount and handed it to senior assistant Praveen Dhakad. When confronted, Saini allegedly told the ACB team that the money was meant for SDM Kajal Meena. A phone conversation between Saini and Kajal Meena, facilitated during the operation, allegedly confirmed her consent to the transaction, according to the ACB.
Dhakad arrived at the office with a bag that contained not only the Rs 60,000 bribe but also Rs 4 lakh in unaccounted cash. All three — SDM Kajal Meena, reader Dinesh Saini and senior assistant Praveen Dhakad — were detained on the spot. The ACB said questioning about the suspicious Rs 4 lakh is underway.
The trap was carried out by Additional Superintendent of Police Gyan Singh Chaudhary of the ACB Sawai Madhopur unit under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Dr. Rameshwar Singh. The overall operation was supervised by ACB Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act will be registered, the bureau said.
