Jaipur: Choosing the right career after school remains one of the biggest challenges for students and parents alike. To address this gap, the Rajasthan Education Department has launched a new mobile application called My Career Advisor, designed to help students make informed career decisions at an early stage.
Developed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the app aims to shift career planning away from guesswork and peer pressure, and toward structured self-assessment and informed choices.
Who Is the App Meant For
The My Career Advisor app is primarily targeted at students from Class 9 to Class 12, a phase where academic streams and career paths begin to take shape. However, the platform is also designed to be useful for teachers, school counsellors and mentors, who can use it as a guidance tool while advising students.
How the App Works
At the core of the app are three structured assessments that help students understand themselves better before choosing a career path.
Students begin with an aptitude test, which takes around 20 minutes and evaluates problem-solving ability, logical thinking and academic strengths. This is followed by an interest test, lasting about 12 minutes, which maps what kind of activities and fields genuinely appeal to the student. The third assessment is a balance test of roughly 14 minutes, designed to analyse personality traits and work-style preferences.
Based on the combined results, the app generates a personalised career profile for each student.
More Than 1,500 Career Options Explained
One of the key features of My Career Advisor is its extensive career database. The app provides information on over 1,500 career options, covering both conventional professions and emerging fields.
Importantly, the platform does not limit guidance to degree-based careers alone. Students can also explore job options that do not require a college degree, helping them understand vocational, skill-based and alternative career pathways that are often overlooked.
Students can create a detailed digital profile on the app, highlighting their skills, interests, preferred sectors and personality traits. This information can be shared with teachers and counsellors, making career discussions more focused and data-driven rather than opinion-based.
Education officials say this feature is expected to improve the quality of career counselling in schools, especially where access to professional career advisors is limited.
The My Career Advisor app is available on both major mobile platforms. Students can download it from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, making it accessible to a wide user base across the state.
