Murder near Shiprapath police station: 6 cops removed, 2 suspended

The victim was first hit with an iron rod and then his body was set on fire around 2 am on Thursday, but the police came to know about the murder almost six hours later.

The body of a 25-year-old man was set on fire near Shipra Path police station in Jaipur.

Jaipur: Six policemen including SHO Sanjay Godara were removed from field duty and sent to reserve police lines while two others were suspended when a 25-year-old man was brutally murdered, just 400 meters from the police station building.

The victim was first hit with an iron rod and then his body was set on fire around 2 am on Thursday, but the police came to know about the murder almost six hours later even as the spot is visible from the entrance gate of the police station.

The victim, Kamal Roy, was a resident of West Bengal. He was a cook at a hostel in Manak Path of Mansarover.

One Raju who worked with him is the prime suspect in the murder. He is on the run. His cell phone have been switched off since the body was discovered.

Kamal stayed in a rented accommodation in Triveni Nagar area with his wife.

He left the house with a friend around 10 pm on Thursday. They had a liquor party. The wife has allegedly told the police that Kamal called her up after midnight. He was under the influence of alcohol to the extent that he forgot the address of his own residence. He made his wife talk to an auto driver.

Those who were suspended are duty officer Gyan Singh and constable Bablu.

Constables Dinesh Kumar, Suresh, Yograj, Jaikrishna and driver Shaitan Singh were removed from duty.
