Jaipur: The public health engineering department (PHED) will provide water connections to only those multi-storey buildings that have building maps approved by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC). It will also be mandatory for a housing society to be registered with the cooperative department at the time of applying for a water connection. Since most housing societies are not registered in the city, the new norms can cause problems for the residents of new multi-storey buildings.

The office bearers of a housing society can get application for water connection from the office of concerned executive engineer or download it from the PHED website.

In the application form, a society will have to give details like built-up area, the number of flats and the number of its members. The applications can be submitted till March 31. The concerned officials then prepare a feasibility report for each housing society.

A demand notice will be issued to the concerned housing society if the feasibility report is positive. The society will then have to pay the required demand following which the process for laying the pipeline will begin.
