Jaipur: Jaipur international airport will be able to accommodate more aircrafts as new parking space will be operational soon. As many as 19 new aprons will be available for parking the aircrafts at Jaipur airport. The construction of aprons has been completed. The airport authorities are now waiting for a green signal from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The lack of parking space for aircrafts was affecting the number of flights that could take off in the morning. The passenger load is the highest at the airport in the morning, but there was not enough space for aircrafts parking in the night. With the launch of these new aprons, the problem of the lack of parking space will be resolved to some extent, airport officials said.
A lot of flights are diverted to Jaipur airport from Delhi in emergency situations such as bad weather. The Jaipur airport will now be able to accommodate more aircrafts in these situations.
The construction of 32 new aprons began last year. Some of the aprons were inaugurated by the union civil aviation minister in February. The airport authorities are waiting for a DGCA approval for the remaining aprons. The number of aprons will reach 46 after the new ones become operational.
