Jaipur: Karwa Chauth is being celebrated in Jaipur on Thursday. The married women in the city will break their fast after the moonrise, so all are curious about moonrise timing. As per experts, the moon will be spotted in Jaipur between 8.20 pm and 9 pm.
The women observed fast on this day wishing long life for their spouse. Dressed in traditional Rajasthani saris, the women in the city offered prayers in the morning.
Karwa Chauth is considered a symbol of a strong relationship and love between husband and wife. While the wives observe fast for their husbands, the husbands offer them gifts. The city markets were abuzz with shoppers on the eve of Karwa Chauth. The women were seen shopping for karvas made of sugar and clay. Many couples were seen shopping for jewellery also.
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot in a tweet wished the women on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. Gehlot congratulated them and offered best wishes on this occasion. “May this festival bring happiness and prosperity, fulfil your wishes,” he wrote.
The government women employees were offered leaves on this occasion by many departments. Some district collectors declared Karwa Chauth a government holiday. These districts included Hanumangarh.
