Jaipur: The Shivdaspura police has arrested one Hariom Meena, said to be the brother of MLA Om Prakash Hudla, in connection with cheating in a recruitment exam being conducted at a private college in the city. A dummy candidate has also been taken into custody.
The exam for recruitment of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) was being conducted by Staff Selection Commission at Yagavalya Institute of Technology in the Sitapura area.
The police got a tip-off that one Rishi Kumar was appearing in the exam in place of the real candidate, identified as Umesh Meena. A police team was rushed there. Hariom Meena was arrested from a car outside the examination centre. Rishi was also taken into custody.
According to police, the kingpin of the cheating gang in the case is one Kamal Kumar Meena, a resident of Todabheem in Karauli. Kamal contacted Hariom Meena for a dummy candidate. They struck a deal and had Rishi Kumar appear in the exam in place of the real candidate.
The police have launched a search for Umesh and Kamal who are at large. The police suspect the gang was involved in cheating via dummy candidates in other exams also.
Hudla – an ex-RAS officer – is an independent candidate from the Mahua constituency of Dausa district.
