Mephedrone drug factory case: Mastermind Jital Kansara arrested

Kansara was allegedly on the run for the past three years since the DRI busted his factory in May, 2015. Kansara had allegedly fled to USA, but the American authorities came to know that he was staying even when his visa had expired. He was deported to India.

Jaipur: The directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) has arrested Jitan Kansara, the alleged mastermind, who ran a factory of illegal psychotropic drug Mephedrone in Abu Road area. Kansara was allegedly on the run for the past three years since the DRI busted his factory in May, 2015. Kansara had allegedly fled to the USA, but the American authorities came to know that he was staying even when his visa had expired. He was deported to India. As soon as he landed at Ahmedabad airport, he was taken into custody by the immigration officials and hand over to a joint team of Ahmedabad crime branch and DRI.

Sources said that he had taken his wife and children to America on a visitor visa, but overstayed. He was allegedly working at a gas station there. The Interpol issued a blue corner notice against him. He was apprehended by the American authorities and deported to India.

Kansara was produced in a court that sent him to judicial custody. Another main accused Jitendra Panchal had been arrested in 2016. He is currently out on bail. Five other accused men linked to the case are still under judicial custody.

The DRI, Department of Revenue and Ministry of Finance carried-out a joint operation spread over Mount Abu and Ahmedabad. The authorities seized 218.43 Kilograms of Mephedrone Hydrochloride (a psychotropic substance under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985) from the factory premises of Rishi Minechem Pvt in Maval’s RIICO Industrial Growth Centre on Abu Road in Mount Abu, Rajasthan on May 25, 2015. Nearly 15.40 Kilograms of Methamphetamine was also seized under the NDPS Act 1985 from the factory premises of Lucent Pharma in Gandhinagar.

The authorities arrested five persons including the kingpin and mastermind of the case – the director of Rishi Minechem, partner of Lucent Pharma, one chemist and a technical expert. The International market value of the seized Mephedrone was Rs. 30.58 crore and that of seized Methamphetamine was Rs. 15.40 crore.
