Jaipur: Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital is the leading government hospital where patients from not only Jaipur and Rajasthan, but also from other nearby states including Uttar Pradesh and Haryana come to get specialized treatment.

Wondering how much it costs to get medical treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur? Here is what you need to know:

The cost of a major surgery: Rs 500

Minor surgery: Rs 200

Outdoor registration: Rs 10

Local anaesthesia: Rs 200

SMS Hospital had increased the cost of medical treatment in April. The cost of a major surgery prior to the change was Rs Rs 200 while minor surgeries were charged rupees Rs 150. The outdoor registration would cost a patient Rs 5, while local anaesthesia was charged rupees Rs 100.

Dr. Ajit Singh, SMS hospital’s additional superintendent, was quoted as saying that the decision to increase the cost was taken in the meeting conducted by the Rajasthan Medical Relief Society (RMRS) in April.

The SMS Hospital is now equipped with Wi-Fi facility which was launched by Rajasthan medical and health Minister Mr. Kalicharan Saraf in August.

The hospital, which is named after Sawai Man Singh II, the former king of Jaipur, also provides practical training to the students of the Sawai Man Singh Medical College.

SMS hospital treats a large number of patients as it is one of the few government super speciality hospitals in the state. One of the biggest hospitals in northern India, SMS witnesses about 8,000 to 10,000 patients every day. There are more than 2,100 beds in the hospital.
