Jaipur: The medical and health department of the Rajasthan government heaved a sigh of relief after the medical student who was being kept in isolation at SMS Hospital for the past three days tested negative for Coronavirus. The hospital administration received a report from the National Institute of Virology Pune, stating that the student was not infected with the virus.
The student who returned from China to visit his family in Jaipur had been admitted to the Infectious Disease Wing of the hospital. The student had showed symptoms of the virus, creating scare. The doctors screened the student and her family members, but after getting the report from the Pune lab they said that there was no need for any concerns because she has been tested negative.
The Rajasthan government is on high alert and is keeping a tab on people coming to Jaipur from China. Nearly 20 people have returned from China recently.
The government has set up a surveillance committee and put up notices at the Jaipur airport requesting people coming to Jaipur from China to report to the committee if they develop any symptoms of the virus.
“We request these people to come forward immediately if they show symptoms of virus including fever, cough or respiratory distress. They will be screened immediately,” said a senior medical and health department officer.
