Mansi Dixit murder: Kota Railway Colony residents shocked by crime

Jaipur: A pall of gloom descended in Railway Colony of Kota as people came to know about the brutal murder of 20-year-old model and TV actress Mansi Dixit in Andheri area of Mumbai.

Mansi was a known face in the colony and the people sympathized with her family as she lost her father a few years ago. The family even struggled financially and Mansi took up odd jobs to support it.

Mansi’s body was found in a travel bag near Malad area of Mumbai on Monday. She was working as a model there. Police arrested her friend Muzammil Sayyed for the crime.

Locals said that Mansi lived in Railway Colony in Kota before she moved to Mumbai six months ago. Everybody was very proud of her success as she had recently appeared in a TV serial too.

Mansi had been living with her family near Railway Colony of Kota for the past four years. Her father died a few years ago. He used to work in railway workshops at Kota. Mansi’s elder sister Divya Dixit is now working at her fathers’ post after she got a compensatory posting. Mansi last came home on Hanuman Jayanti.

Police discovered a CCTV footage in which the accused Muzammil Sayyed (19) was found throwing the travel bag in a valley near Malad on Monday.

According to the Bangur Nagar police, Mansi was with his friend Muzammil in his flat. An argument happened between the two, during which the accused hit a stool on Mansi’s head. The intensity of the attack was so much that Mansi died on the spot. The accused Muzammil Sayyed packed the body in a travel bag and dumped it into a valley near Malad.

After the deceased body was found, police found CCTV footage leading to the accused man’s arrest.

The accused stuffed the body in a suitcase and hailed a private cab from Andheri to Malad. He then dumped the body near Mindspace, in the cover of mangroves and fled from the spot.
