Man with 700 gram gold hidden in rectum arrested at Jaipur airport

The man had arrived in Jaipur from Bangkok in a Thai Smile flight. He was caught while he was getting through the security check point at Jaipur international airport.

Jaipur: The customs department arrested a man identified as SK Saluja who allegedly hid 700 gram gold in his rectum and was trying to smuggle them into the city on Sunday. He had arrived in Jaipur from Bangkok in a Thai Smile flight. He was caught while he was getting through the security check point at Jaipur international airport.

The gold weights around 738 g and is worth Rs 25 lakh in the international market, officials said.

The security personnel at the security check post in the airport got suspicious when they saw a man walking abnormally. A body scan revealed some metal in his body. A doctor was called to extract the gold.

According to the officials, the smuggler concealed the gold in his rectum. The gold was seized and the smuggler was arrested. The team is questioning the man to get further details on the smuggling network that he was part of.

The officer said that the man will be produced in a court and the further investigation of the case is going on.

The smugglers have made the Jaipur international airport a middle spot for gold smuggling from foreign countries to other states including Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and others.

Many cases of gold smuggling attempts at Jaipur International Airport have come to fore over the past few months. Security agencies are keeping a close eye and are alert due to an increase in gold smuggling from Bangkok and other countries.
