Jaipur: A special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) court in Kota sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 1 Lakh for raping a 10-year-old girl. The verdict came within five days after the court began hearing the case. This is the fastest judgement in a child rape case.

The convict was identified as Hariram who had kidnapped a 10-year-old girl from Jaipur’s JK Lon Hospital, took her to Lakheri in Bundi and raped.

The incident took place on October 13 of 2017. Hariram was arrested on May 22 but due to the delay in FSL report, the hearing began before the court on August 21. Special POCSO court Judge Girish Agarwal delivered the judgement on Monday.

According to the police, a pregnant woman was admitted to JK Lon Hospital on October 13 last year. She was accompanied by her 6-year-old and 10-year-old daughters.

Hariram (60), a resident of Ramchandrapura, took away the 10-year-old daughter from the hospital on the pretext that he would arrange money for her mother’s treatment.

He took the girl to Lakheri by train and raped her in the woods. The girl managed to flee from the spot and came to Kota railway station from Lakheri.

Some passers-by informed the police when they saw the girl wandering and crying at the railway station. The cops later arrested Hariram. When the girl returned to the hospital, her mother was dead.
