Man arrested for sharing child pornography in WhatsApp group

Jaipur: The cyber cell of Rajasthan special operations group (SOG) has arrested a man from Sriganganagar for sharing a child pornography video in a WhatsApp group. The action was taken after the members of the group lodged a complaint with the National Crime Record Bureau online. The man can be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of five years if he is found guilty. It is first of its kind arrest in the state.

The accused man was identified as Akbar Khan, a resident of Muklawa village in Sriganganagar. He runs a private de-addiction centre. The police produced in a court on Thursday that remanded him in four-day police custody. The man is learnt to have several criminal cases registered against him with the police in Srigangangar.

ADG, SOG Anil Paliwal said that Akbar had shared a pornography video in a WhatsApp group – Rajnitik Akhada – on December 27. The members were aghast and raised an objection following which the admin removed him from the group. One of the members then registered a complaint with the National Crime Record Bureau. The complaint was forwarded to the Rajasthan police following which Akbar was held.
