Jaipur: Tourists are once again enjoying the popular ‘Light and Sound Show’ at Amer Fort. The show was halted when the National Green Tribunal (NGT) banned commercial activities at Nahargarh Fort and the surrounding wildlife area. The supreme court stayed the ban recently.
On Friday, 261 tourists enjoyed the show. The Amer Fort was once again sparkling with beautiful lights. The show has also increased tourist footfall at the fort. It was one of the most popular activities after the sunset, but it was stopped after the NGT order nearly two months ago.
The restaurants and other commercial activities have also resumed at Nahargarh Fort after the Supreme Court stay.
NGT in October last year had banned commercial activities including two restaurants, a hotel and a bar at Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur. The ban order was issued on a PIL filed by wildlife lover Rajendra Tiwari. The ban came into effect on December 1. The petitory alleged that the tourism and archaeological departments were not entitled to operate any commercial activities in a conservation area
“The Light and Sound Show is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Jaipur. The fort bathed in beautiful lights is a sight to behold. It will help the tourism industry which was already suffering from the Covid-19 impact,” said a tourist department officer.
