Jaipur: Kushalgarh MLA Surendra Singh Rathore has tested positive for COVID-19. His wife also tested positive. Rathore is among the several legislators who have been infected with the virus. Earlier, BJP MLA Diya Kumari had tested positive for the virus. Rathore who is a BJP MLA was campaigning along with Diya Kumari during the panchayat elections.

Diya Kumari had requested people who had came in contact with her self-isolate and have themselves tested for the virus.

On Friday, 1934 people tested positive for the virus in Rajasthan. Of them, 548 were in Jaipur alone. The total number of coronavirus cases has gone up to 2,76,420 in the state. Most of the infected people are getting treatment at home as the ICUs and COVID wards in most government and private hospitals are full.

The police in Jaipur has imposed night curfew, but it’s not being implemented strictly. Though shops and other commercial establishments are closed by 7 pm, there seems to be no restrictions on the movement of people.

Several areas in the city including Mansarovar, Sanganer, Durgapura, Ajmer Road, Vidhyadhar Nagar, and Jhotwara are COVID-19 hotspots in the city. The teams of JMC and city police are penalizing people for not wearing masks, but COVID-19 guidelines are still being flouted. People can be seen roaming around without masks in crowded markets.
