Kota suicide attempt: Coaching student jumps off fourth floor of hostel building

JAIPUR: A coaching student jumped off the fourth floor of his hostel building to commit suicide in Kota. The student was admitted to a hospital in serious condition. The student was to appear in the JEE on Sunday.
The incident took place the Vigyan Nagar area on Sunday. CCTV footage of the student falling from the balcony has also surfaced.
Police said that the 17-year-old coaching student is a resident of Maharashtra. The student was staying in a hostel located in Road Number 2 area behind City Mall. he had been preparing for JEE at a coaching institute in Kota. The police are trying to ascertain what caused the student to take the extreme step.
The incident took place at 4.50 am on Sunday. The student came out of his room and went up the stairs to the fourth floor. He then jumped from the balcony. The police have informed the family members who are on their way to Kota till the reports last came in.
After some people saw the students, they informed the police. The student was rushed to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The student fell on his face from a height of about 50 feet and sustained injuries on his jaw and the lower part of his body. He is currently taken on a ventilator.
Vigyan Nagar police station CI Devesh Bhardwaj said that the coaching student has been reported to have fallen from the balcony of the hostel. The family members have been informed. A coaching student had jumped from the ninth floor in front of his mother about nine months ago.
