Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested the PA of the deputy commissioner, sales tax department Shiv Dayal Meena after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 11,000. The accused Jitendra Parchwani was allegedly demanding bribe from a trader to waive the sales tax penalty imposed on him. The trader approached the ACB and registered a complaint following which the trap was laid.

The complainant Sumit Jain alleged that when he reached the PA’s office, Parchwani told him that the penalty papers were ready and that Jain should speak to SD Meena. As told by Jitendra, Jain reached a place where Parchvani met him to collect the bribe money. Jitendra came back to his office after collecting the money from Jain and upon seeing the ACB team waiting for him there, he allegedly fainted.

ACB inspector Vivek Soni was quoted as saying that the sales tax department has conducted an investigation against Jain’s firm. Jain is a resident of Taleda in Bundi. Accusing him of tax evasion, the department informed him that he would have to pay a penalty and tax dues amounting to Rs 5 lakhs. The PA allegedly told him that he could have Rs 3.5 lakhs of the total penalty waived if Jain agreed to pay Rs 50,000. Later PA agreed to accept Rs 15,000. Before ACB laid the trap, PA had allegedly taken Rs 4,000 from Jain.
