Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested a former managing director (MD) of Kota dairy, identified as Shyam Babu Varma (58) and accountant Akhilesh Saxena in a corruption case. In a complaint filed against them in 2014, it was alleged that the duo had issued a tender of Kota Saras Dairy based on a bogus license. They were produced in a court that sent them to judicial custody.
The ACB had registered an FIR in 2018 after investigating the complaint lodged in 2014. The complainant – Satyanarayan Sharma – alleged that a tender for supplying labour was given to a company based on a bogus license. The tender was for works amounting to Rs 1.5 crore.
The ACB investigated the case and found the license issued by the labour welfare department of Bundi district fake. The work order was issued by then MD Shyam Babu Varma in connivance with account Akhilesh Saxena, according to the complaint.
After lodging an FIR under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the ACB investigated the case and submitted a request for prosecuting the two accused. It was approved recently following which both were arrested. Shyam Babu had filed an anticipatory bail application earlier but it was rejected by the court.
