Jaipur: Another coaching student committed suicide by hanging himself at his hostel room in Vigyan Nagar area of Kota. The student, identified as Rishabh Kumar, a resident of Begusarai in Bihar, was preparing for IIT at a coaching institute in Kota. According to preliminary reports, he left a suicide note; however, the police are yet to disclose what caused Rishabh to take the extreme step.

After being informed about the suicide by the hostel administration, a police team rushed to the spot and took the body to a mortuary. A postmortem examination will be conducted in the presence of his family members.

“We have informed the family members. They are on their way to Kota,” said a police officer.

A spate of suicides in the first four months of this year has put a question mark over the coaching industry in Kota. Nearly eight suicides have been reported so far.

Worried over the increasing number of suicides, the education department of the Rajasthan government had recently prepared guidelines for coaching institutes in the state. The guidelines include appointment of a psychologist for counselling to students who show sign of stress. The government is, however, yet to give its final nod to the guidelines.
