‘Khalistani sympathizer’ arrested from Bikaner for plotting attack on Punjab CM

The suspect was arrested from Kolayat in Bikaner on Thursday after the Punjab police sought assistance from their Rajasthan counterparts for nabbing the key accused.

Jaipur: Bikaner range police on Thursday arrested on Jarman Singh who had intended to create a disturbance at former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s rally in Punjab on October 7.

The suspect was arrested from Kolayat in Bikaner on Thursday after the Punjab police sought assistance from their Rajasthan counterparts for nabbing the key accused.

Jarman Singh had uploaded some Facebook posts with Khalistan-related information following which security agencies were put on high alert.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had on Monday arrested three people who had intended to create a disturbance at former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s rally in Punjab on October 7. Criminals attacked a police picket in the Jhinjhana police station limits and shot at a home guard. That’s when the trio were arrested. However the kingpin of the gang Jarman Singh fled.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the gang was planning an attack on Punjab Chief Minister Badal.

“When we received a request for assistance from Punjab police, we launched a hunt for Jarman Singh,” said a senior police officer.

Bikaner range IG Dinesh MN said that a team of 12 policemen including two SHOs was formed to nab Jarman Singh.

“He was arrested from Gurudwara in Kolayat. He was taken into custody and handed over to Pujab police for further investigation,” said IG Dinesh MN.
