Fire at Kafka rooftop restaurant

Jaipur: A day after a major fire broke out at Kafka Rooftop Restaurant following an LPG cylinder blast, the Jaipur Municipal Corporatio served notice to the management for the lack of fire NOC.

While the restaurant management said that they had applied for the NOC but yet to receive it, the JMC has warned of action against them. The fire broke out early in the morning. Had the explosion occurred during office hours, it could have been catastrophic as the building houses over 30 offices where hundreds of people work.

A loud explosion triggered panic in the areas surrounding Kafka situated Rambagh Circle on Tonk Road. People said the explosion was heard in a radius of over 2 kilometres.

Some local residents shot a video of the flames emanating out of the building. The videos went viral on social media.

“We rushed fire tenders to the spot immediately after getting information about the fire. There were half a dozen more LPG cylinder in the building but before the fire could reach them, it was doused. No loss of life was reported,” said the officer.

When the fire started from the kitchen, a security guard and an employee who were inside the restaurant tried to douse it, but they left the building when they saw the LPG cylinder engulfed in the fire.

“We have served a notice to the management. Further action will be taken after an enquiry,” said the officer.
